Digital Measurement for Tilers

Tilers and floorers spend a significant amount of time measuring and often creating templates — time that could be used more efficient on the job site. The Digital Measurement System simplifies the creation of precise sketches, thereby increasing the efficiency of craft businesses.

Shower Back Panel with Cutouts and Niche

The trend toward large-format tiles is becoming increasingly popular, especially in bathrooms and for good reason. XXL tiles offer an almost seamless design, providing numerous advantages such as easy-to-clean surfaces, minimal grout lines, and a wide range of design possibilities. These features make large tiles a favorite choice for bathroom surfaces. However, working with such large formats can be challenging. Accurate measurements are essential, as reworking on-site is often difficult or even impossible.

With the Solaflex Digital Measurement System, these shower back panels were precisely measured and digitized. The digital template was then sent to the manufacturer as production-ready data for cutting on water jet machines. This process ensured that the shower back panels were perfectly prefabricated and quickly installed.

Floor Surface with Grout Spacing

This floor surface in the entrance hall of a single-family home was measured using the Solaflex Digital Measurement System. In just about 30 minutes, the precise measurement process was completed. The customer was able to agree on the layout of the grout lines on-site. Using the handy “Insert Grout Grid” feature in the App, the grout pattern was applied and visualized directly on the drawing.

Using the bill of materials (BOM) breakdown, every part was clearly detailed, enabling the tiles to be precisely cut and numbered in advance.

The pre-cut tiles were delivered to the job site and installed, completely eliminating the need for on-site cutting. This resulted in no dust, no noise, and no constant back-and-forth between cutting and laying the tiles. The streamlined workflow impressed not only the builders but also the homeowners on this project.

Wall Surface and Staircase with Cutouts

The wall surface in this staircase, standing over 8 meters tall, was fully clad with large-format ceramic tiles. The precise measurement for this three-story staircase was completed in about two hours. Using the Solaflex Measurement App, the arrangement of the large tiles—each measuring 3000 x 500 mm—was meticulously planned in advance. The final drawing was then exported as a DXF file and sent to a producer, who pre-cut the tiles for the project. This pre-cutting process eliminated the need for on-site tile cutting, reducing dust, noise, and the constant back-and-forth between installation and cutting. As a result, the wall paneling for the staircase was installed quickly and efficiently.

Measuring a Spiral Staircase

Measuring stairs and steps is made significantly easier with the Solaflex Digital Measurement System. The process is especially quick, as it eliminates the need for a stair gauge or step template.

Staircase with Landing and Cutouts

Two gently curved steps lead up to this tiled landing. The subtle curve of the steps, along with the cutouts for the ventilation grilles, were meticulously measured and detailed in the digital layout. This precision allowed the tiles to be perfectly cut to fit the project.
